The Hills are alive with the sound of weddings. It's cheesy, sure, but with the recent news that both Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port are engaged and published pictures of their engagement rings, we can't help but sing with joy.

As our inner former-MTV-addict selves simmer down, we need to take a closer look at each of their sparkly new accessories. Both Hills alums have pursued careers in fashion, so it's not shocking that both rings are absolutely stunning and timeless.
Much like we did in our Ciara vs. Kim Kardashian engagement ring showdown, we're going to start our comparison with cut. Conrad posted a picture of her brand-new ring on her website right after boyfriend William Tell popped the question. Her band (shown above) features a singular round-cut diamond. It's one of the most classic cuts and styles, and absolutely fits the sophisticated, yet bohemian wedding she appears to be planning.
Port, on the other hand, accepted an oval-cut diamond engagement ring from fiancé Tim Rosenman. The rock, which surfaced on websites like Popsugar, is in a four-prong setting studded with smaller diamonds. The more trendy style resembles Blake Lively's show-stopping pink diamond engagement ring, which ushered in tons of oval-shaped copycats. Port's is completely distinct, but it feels appropriately 2013 for the thoroughly modern designer. She posted an adorable photo to Instagram (shown below) of Rosenman holding her hand with the caption, "He can't take his hands off me so he put a ring on it!"

Now, onto carat size and metal. Conrad's two-carat rock is set in a yellow gold band, while Port's three-carat diamond is nestled in rose gold. Both metals are a refreshing change from platinum or white gold, and compliment the stunning stones perfectly.

Another similarity stems from their proposal stories. Though we predicted Conrad's engagement a month before she broke the news, she was completely taken off-guard. "I had no idea it was coming," she told Cosmopolitan in her cover story for their January issue. "I thought he would wait until he finished law school." Port was equally shocked. "I was very surprised," she told Us Weekly. "We were in Australia. I was working out there and brought him along because he'd never been, and he decided to do it out there!"
Though it's unclear if Port had any role in choosing her engagement ring, Conrad also confessed to Cosmo that Tell chose her ring without any assistance! "He didn't even ask my friends, which was a bold move. He said, 'I know you, and I know what you like.' And I love it. It's perfect."
That was a bold move, especially for such a fashion-forward woman like Conrad, but clearly the risk paid off. Ring differences aside, Conrad and Port both seem headed toward marital bliss at roughly the same pace.
Port even told Us Weekly that the TV BFFs have bonded over their back-to-back engagements. "She actually emailed me about something else this week and I hadn't told her yet so I told her," Port said. '[Lauren] was like, "Oh my god we're both going to be old married ladies together!" It's crazy how the timing worked out."
Maybe this means we'll get to see the bridesmaid dresses we picked when Conrad got engaged actually be put to use! Either way, their rings are just a glimpse at what are sure to be totally trendy and utterly SoCal weddings. We can't wait!
