In Case You Missed It! Watch Singer Dara Maclean and DJ Jon Blak from Scratch Weddings Hangout On Air!

Music

This week's Google+ Hangout On Air was all about newlywed marriage advice and choosing the right wedding music. We were joined by "Wanted" singer/songwriter Dara Maclean and DJ Jon Blak from Scratch Weddings and coincidentally, both talents recently got married!

Since both Dara and Jon are both passionate experts in the music industry, they both shared insider advice on how to choose the right playlist for your wedding day as well as picking the appropriate song for your first dance. "A good DJ is such a make or break. Music is such an experience, I had such a detailed playlist," Maclean said of finalizing her wedding day playlist. For his part, Jon said that seeing every guest take off their shoes and get exhausted from dancing is the most satisfying part of his job.

Both even shared their sweet stories on how they chose their wedding day songs. "There's a song called 'For You' that my husband played for the first time when we were hanging out and I fell in love with it," said Maclean. Jon and his wife chose a Bootsy Collins song titled "I'd Rather Be With You" as their first dance song. "It was just one of those songs that throughout our relationship it was always cemented within us," he said.

In addition to their expertise on finding the perfect wedding playlist, they both shared insightful advice on how to keep the romance alive and maintain a healthy relationship- especially as newlyweds. Since both Dara and Jon are constantly traveling on the road, they both agreed that communicating with their respective spouses everyday is the most important way to stay connected. "Skype, Gchat with video is what we do when we are away from each other. And also believing in your relationship and speaking things into existence is important," Jon advised, who also semi-jokingly held up a portrait of his wife that he takes everywhere with him. "Communication is everything. I don't know if you'll ever master the art, but I think you're mastering it if you're being intentional to learn how to communicate with each other everyday," Maclean said.
