The hills are alive, but this time, with the sound of wedding bells!
Maria Von Trapp's iconic wedding dress, worn by Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, will be up for auction this November through Julien's Auctions, an auction house in Beverly Hills. The famed gown is one of a few standout items featured in the house's "Icons & Idols: Hollywood" auction teeming with must-have Hollywood treasures like Marilyn Monroe's X-rays (proving the bombshell had plastic surgery) and James Gandolfini's tracksuit from The Sopranos.
The classic satin A-Line gown, fashioned with sleek long sleeves and a modest V-neckline, was designed by Dorothy Jacobs, a famous costume designer of the time. It has undergone a few post-production alterations since it starred in the 1965 film—the dress had been used by the studio for different events and even weddings—but Martin Nolan, executive director at Julien's, told the Today show that he estimates it will sell for between $30,00 and $50,000. Talk about a one-of-a-kind dress!
Interested? All items will be going up for auction at Julien's and online on November 9th and 10th.
