Nearly every bride-to-be has specific wedding-day fantasies—a princess-like ball gown wedding dress, a candlelit reception tent, a hunky groom waiting at the end of the ceremony aisle, the list goes on. Australian bride Branka Delic had a much more specific and unconventional wish for her wedding day. She dreamed of Jon Bon Jovi escorting her down the aisle, and she campaigned hard to see her dream come true.
In August, Delic started an online petition and a Facebook page petitioning him to show up to her wedding to fiancé Gonzalo Cladera. Delic knew Bon Jovi was going to be in Las Vegas the same weekend as her wedding for his "Because We Can" tour at the MGM Grand. She also knew that Bon Jovi married his wife of 24 years, Dorothea, at the Graceland Wedding Chapel, so she and her obliging groom selected that venue for their ceremony.
"Bon Jovi, we're begging you. Make this wedding happen!" Delic wrote on the site, appropriately named Bonjoviwalkmedowntheaisle.com. "All her life, Branka thought she would marry Bon Jovi himself. Sadly, at the age of 34 she realised this would never happen, and she accepted Gonzo's proposal instead," the website adds. "We're living on a prayer and we want you to come lay your hands on me and walk me down the aisle!"
She also Tweeted messages like "The day is near, Jon boy. Is it a date or what? Please don't let this devoted Aussie bride down."
You know where this is going: Delic's efforts didn't go unnoticed. Bon Jovi took time before his show and surprised her by walking her down the aisle on Saturday.
Despite her hard work in getting her idol's attention, Delic couldn't believe it when the musician actually showed up. Afterward, she Tweeted:
@BonJovi you did more than make my dream come true, you changed my life forever! An amazing man with an amazing generous heart— branka delic (@branksd) October 13, 2013
For his part, Bon Jovi sent out a special Tweet to his number-one fan.
How's that for a wedding miracle? We wouldn't be surprised if more brides start sending shout outs to their favorite stars in hopes of a wedding day drop-in. Us, we'll settle for a romantic first-dance serenade. John Legend, are you listening?
