What's the only time when "love" doesn't mean zero in tennis? When the number one-ranked tennis player gets engaged!
Novak Djokovic, who lost to Rafael Nadal in the US Open finals earlier this month, rebounded from that defeat by proposing to Jelena Ristic, his high school sweetheart.
Djokovic shouted the happy news from the rooftops—er, Instagram—with this photo, which he captioned, "We're engaged!!! Getting used to introducing Jelena as my fiancée and future wife. Couldn't be happier."
The Serbian tennis pro gave an engagement ring to Ristic, his girlfriend of eight years, over the weekend in Monte Carlo, his current residence. They first met in high school in Belgrade and are known as the "Will and Kate of Serbia."
Ristic appears to be a formidable match for the 26-year-old tennis champ. She's a former swimwear model who earned her master's degree in management from Milan's Bocconi University and runs the Novak Djokovic Foundation, which benefits underprivileged children in Serbia.
The couple plan to get married next year. If their nickname is any indication, it sounds like we have a royal-worthy wedding to look forward to! We can't wait.
