As we do each season, Brides asked designers showing Fall 2013 collections to grant us a sketched sneak peek at the gowns soon to hit New York runways. (Afterward, it's fun to compare the sketches to the real-life gowns they become.) Here, Anne Bowen sets sail with a collection that puts a new twist on classic nautical themes:
Describe your collection in a word:
What inspired this season's theme?
After boating several weekends out on the ocean, I started exploring ocean current charts and wind charts—the flow of wind and ocean over the earth inspired the crystals and beads sewn in a spontaneous yet rhythmical pattern.
What is unique about this sketch in particular?
The gown is called Tidal Rhythms and features sheer netting at the bodice with silver, clear, and prong-set crystals.
