As we do each season, Brides asked designers showing Fall 2013 collections to grant us a sketched sneak peek at the gowns soon hitting the New York runways. (Afterward, it's fun to compare the sketches to the real-life gowns they become.) Here, Nicole Miller explains her approach to designing for a diversity of brides:
Describe your collection in a word:
Eclectic
What inspired this season's theme?
I am inspired by the different types of brides—and weddings—I have been seeing lately. I designed dresses for each type, including the traditional bride, the modern bride, the feminine bride, the boho bride—each dress speaks to a different style, while keeping true to the Nicole Miller bridal aesthetic.
What is unique about this sketch in particular?
This dress speaks to the modern bride, with a subtly feminine twist. The sheath silhouette is chic and understated, while the lace detailing evokes a more romantic feeling.
