When Greta Peters imagined what her wedding day would be like, she had a very clear vision of a simple, elegant affair by the sea. She wanted a "toes-in-the-sand wedding" that was close to her childhood home in Scituate, Massachusetts, and she wanted her childhood friend, designer Jason Wu, to make good on a promise he penned a decade ago.

"I met Jason when I was seventeen," Greta explained. "We were both studying in France for our senior year of high school. We had become good friends, along with Olivia Henderson, who was one of my bridesmaids in my wedding. One weekend, Jason, Olivia and I went out for coffee at a brasserie in Rennes. We were all talking about what we wanted do to after high school, and Olivia and I were telling Jason that we just knew that he would be famous fashion designer one day. We told him that he needed to promise to make our wedding dresses. I made him write down the promise. And he held true to his word!"

On July 20, 2012 both of Greta's wishes came true. The bride wore a custom silk chiffon wedding gown designed by her friend, Jason Wu, and had the Cape Code wedding of her dreams. A third wish, to be united forever with her love, Samuel, was granted as well.

The bride, a New York-based travel publicist, and her groom said their "I dos" at Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port, Cape Cod. "I wanted the wedding to have a real sense of place," said the bride, "so the day featured a lot of beach-themed details like starfish, scallop shells, sand and ocean. Everything from my floral selection, to my wedding dress, to my bridesmaid dresses, had an elegant feel."

The couple's wedding ceremony was held on the sand, and the bridal party stood under large white umbrellas. Greta's bridesmaids wore knee-length dresses by The Dessy Group and carried pink calla lilies. The bridal party stood under three gigantic white umbrellas during the ceremony.

"I told Jason I wanted a few things for my wedding dress," explained the bride, "but I basically gave him the freedom to create it however he wanted. I trusted him, and he knows what looks good on me. My favorite part of the dress were the jeweled details—the belt and the jeweled pieces on the bodice. Jason had someone on his team sew each jewel onto the dress by hand. I cannot imagine how long it took. He would send me photos of the jewels, and it made me feel so special."

"Jason insisted I carry a white bouquet," said the bride of her wedding gown designer. The bride picked a white Calla Lily paired with a white Stephanotis. Her groom wore a single white Calla Lily boutonniere.

"It was touching to see how many people traveled so far to be part of my and Samuel's big day," the bride said. "We had people fly in from California, Wyoming, Texas, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and 40 guests from France!"

"The Black Eyed Peas' tune 'I've Got a Feeling' became 'our song,'" explained the bride of a close group of wedding guest friends whom she met in Rio in 2009. "This was the song to which the bridal party was introduced. Then the DJ played the song again later in the night and everyone went wild."

The couple's three-tiered buttercream wedding cake was covered in chocolate seashells. Sugar, made to look like sand, decorated the base of the cake.

An after-party was held on the beach. Guests roasted marshmallows and made s'mores.

Samuel and Greta met at a hostel in Brazil during the summer of 2009 while they were both traveling abroad with friends. The bride, whose job as a travel publicist usually landed her a luxury five-star hotel properties, felt a bit out of place at the hostel. After a bit of persuasion, however, she ended up taking advantage of the hostel's complimentary cocktail hour at the rooftop bar. It was there that she first spotted her groom, a "tall, gorgeous, tan Frenchman" whom she credits with convincing her to stick it out at the hostel. From there, the couple began a year-long long-distance relationship. "He would send me photos from his travels, with 'I miss GP' spelled out using stones," the bride recalled. "Knowing I would have to wait to really be with him was difficult, but I knew in my heart that he was worth it."
