For their August 14 affair at an East Hampton, New York, estate, Michelle, 34, and Austin, 34, honored two important things: their dedication to the green lifestyle (the eco-minded pair own a company that constructs environmentally conscious homes in Central America) and their relationship (they met 13 years ago, when he snuck up and kissed her, thinking she was someone else). "We were marrying all the parts of our lives," says Michelle, who relocated with her new husband to Nicaragua after their engagement to oversee their natural-building business. The result was a wedding that mixed romantic elegance, Latin touches, earth-friendly details, and charming surprises. (Hello, accordion player!) Emotions ran high during the petal-strewn ceremony, which was set on a grassy knoll. "I was giddy, and Austin was reflective, taking it all in," she says. Later, the 150 guests dined on locally sourced veggies and fish, strolled the garden, and enjoyed salsa dancing as a Latin band played. Recalls the bride, "I felt like the bridal-couture version of a flamenco dancer, twirling in my ruffled gown."

Surrounded on all sides by family and friends, the couple faced the horseshoe-shaped seating arrangement during their ceremony. The matron of honor's fuchsia gown added a bright pop of color. She carried a lush bouquet of pink peonies and roses.

"I couldn't resist these ruffled dancing shoes - they were so festive!" the bride exclaimed of her fun Max Studio footwear. Michelle and Austin walked down a plush carpet of rose petals after the vows. A French chanteuse - and her accordion - charmed the guests. Pretty parasols blocked the hot August sun.

A veggie trio showcased the season's best: corn, tomatoes, and eggplant. Satin ribbons anchored the seating cards around a table accented with blooms.

As dusk fell, the tent's chandeliers cast a warm glow. Two little guests showed the adults how it's done on the dance floor.

Crystal glasses mingled with pink Moroccan votive holders and lush arrangements of peonies, roses, and hydrangeas. "It was important to be as green as possible, so we only chose local, seasonal flowers," says Michelle.
