Before this glossy, unconventionally glamorous ball gown even made it to end of the runway, applause erupted throughout the room. It was just that breathtaking—and not just to the seated onlookers at Angel Sanchez's Spring 2013 show.
"The instant photos of this dress popped up on Tumblr, I totally fell for it," says our Web Producer, Allison Bean. "Geometric acetate appliqués decorate the bodice and skirt, which give the gown a futuristic-glam feel. Plus, the embellishments keep the frothy tulle skirt from feeling too princess-y."
Princesses in space, however, might naturally gravitate toward this ruffled design—although a ballroom on the Moon could be hard to find. "A dramatic setting is definitely needed for this statement-making style," Allison notes, thinking of more Earthly options. "A chic loft or modern art museum would be a good fit."
