Without presenter Milla Jovovich, the 2012 Oscars would have been a tame, ever-so-slightly lackluster night for Old Hollywood glamour. So let's thank the fashion gods, then, for Jovovich's couture Elie Saab gown, which swathed the star in a pearlescent shimmer embellished across an unconventional one-shoulder silhouette. Styled with a retro do, a smoldering red lip, and an envy-inducing clutch by Edie Parker, Jovovich showed us that even a first-timer can out-dress Oscar royalty.
For a similar look, we love Douglas Hannant's use of an asymmetrical sleeve on this gown from his Fall 2012 collection. Though the design features only a touch of glitz on the peek-a-boo bust cup, the gown mirror's Jovovich's choice in defining a close-fitting shape and framing the wearer's face.
