Will Anne Hathaway's Wedding Dress Bring Sexy Back?

Some brides hope to turn heads in their wedding gowns, but not Anne Hathaway. No, she'd much rather do the head turning herself—or so we assume looking at the star's recent red carpet appearances. With stylist Rachel Zoe in her corner, Hathaway has consistently chosen award show gowns featuring high-drama backs, be they plunging, like the Armani Privé number (top middle) she wore to the 2011 Golden Globes, or romantic, as with the red Valentino gown (top right) she donned to host this year's Academy Awards.

But despite any high-fashion hookups Zoe is likely to swing for the actress's wedding gown, Hathaway could just as well turn to the Fall 2012 bridal collections, which trended toward sexified, stunning backs from a range of designers. Marchesa's low-dipping cowl (bottom middle) stops just tantalizingly shy of the tailbone, while Angel Sanchez emphasizes volume over skin with his cascading bustle (bottom right). Being an Oscar-nominated actress, Hathaway can even pull off sultry and sophisticated, like she did in a lace and black-bowed Valentino dress (top left) two award seasons ago—a look echoed on the runway by Amsale's latest collection (bottom left).

The again, Hathaway's blockbuster project The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters next year, so maybe she'll take a cue from Catwoman and slink down the aisle in a bridal bodysuit—designed by Valentino, naturally. —Phillip B. Crook
