For some reason (and whatever it is, it's baffling), a lot of grooms forgo or forget about pocket squares. I suppose their size is easy to overlook but, considering the magnitude of their sartorial importance, you'd think more guys would wisen up. A colorful flash of cotton or silk brings a level of tailored sophistication to wedding looks regardless of how formal or relaxed the affair. In fact, these little peaks of fabric are at their most chic when worn sans tie with an open-neck shirt and a blazer. (Think Scott Disick but less greasy.) Personally, I love the variety of options from The Hill-Side, a Brooklyn-based manufacturer. Some men might shy from a glitzy silk square, so the raw grain of these handmade cotton squares will appeal to a hard-edged sensibility. (Like Scott Disick if he were Don Draper.) My favorite of the Hill-Side bunch is likely the navy polka dot chambray, which I can imagine paired with an opposing pattern linked by the same palette. A blue gingham shirt with a navy polka dot pocket square? Heaven. —Phillip B. Crook
