Wedding Cake of the Week: Ombré Cake Balls

I've written about my love for ombré wedding cakes before, but this confection by Gabby Loubiere of Brew-Ha Ha, in Baton Rouge, LA, is such a unique twist on the idea. The tiers are actually comprised of pink- and peach-colored cake balls arranged in an elegant gradient design. To create the confection, Gabby baked bite-size "balls" of cake in flavors such as tiramisu cheesecake and funfetti; then, she dipped each cake ball in white-chocolate ganache that had been dyed in pale shades of peach, blush, and yellow. The cake balls were affixed to a five-tier base and served alongside extra platters of cake balls for guests to help themselves to. I love this creative spin on ombré—a wedding dessert like this would really be an eye-catching dessert display at the reception.
