Ruschmeyer's: Where Summer Camp Meets Luxury

Anyone who has watched Dirty Dancing knows the appeal of escaping to a summer retreat—and I don't mean Patrick Swayze's hips. Ruschmeyer's, a hotel built in 1952 in Montauk, New York, offers all the excitement of an adult summer camp combined with the luxury of a high-end resort. Like Montauk itself, Ruschmeyer's strikes a balance between quaint and glamorous. And doesn't that just sound like the perfect mix of styles for summer wedding? (It does to me.) The hotel's accommodations range from standard queen rooms to suites fit for two. The hotel's group spaces include three acres of lakeside woods, a sand-filled beer garden, a central lawn, and a fresh seafood restaurant from chef Greg McCarty. If a Hamptons wedding isn't what you had in mind, Ruschmeyer's would also make for an excellent glamping (read: glamorous camping) bachelorette party destination. A weekend of paddle boarding, yoga, and fine dining with the gals? Just remember to invite me, please. —Phillip B. Crook
