Décor Idea: Handmade
Paper Garlands

If the current DIY craze has you feeling helplessly uncrafty, don't despair. You can still achieve a handmade aesthetic at your shower, rehearsal dinner, or wedding reception without ever dirtying your own hands with glue, scissors, or (gasp) a sewing machine. Offered in a range of colors and shapes, these paper garlands from Seattle-based paper shop ink whimsy are cut and punched from cardstock and sewn together with thread (on someone else's sewing machine). The strands span between four and six feet, although custom lengths are available for special order, and start at just $9. So if your venue boasts feet and feet of endlessly boring fencing or a low-hanging canopy of tree branches, a festive string of paper shapes might be just the added touch you need. But, of course, how you choose to answer the inevitable question of "Did you make these yourself?" is out of our hands. —Phillip B. Crook
