Destination Wedding Favor Idea

Whenever my grandmother packed a bag for some far-off place (she and my grandfather were frequent world travelers), she'd tie a large, multicolored yarn pompom to her suitcase handle. In a river of luggage coming down the airport conveyor belt, that fuzzy burst of color instantly asserted that this was Mary Ruth's suitcase. Whenever I fly now, I find myself wishing that I had my own grandmother-made luggage tag, not only because it would easily distinguish my generic black bag from the rest, but also because I'd think of my grandmother and the warm memories she stirs in my heart—which is why I think personalized luggage tags would make a great destination wedding favor. These hand-stitched, double-sided tags from HarLex, $34.90, can be personalized with guests' names and contact information on one side, and perhaps a short message from you and yours on the reverse. That way, when they next travel, your friends and family will be reminded of the wonderful time they had in Mexico, Maine, or Italy—or, in my grandmother's case, Egypt, England, and Greece. —Phillip B.
