I'm completely obsessed with the Japanese home design store MUJI and flipped out when I saw this wedding cake design by Gail Watson and A Simple Cake. A three-tier buttercream-frosted cake is topped with miniature New York City icons like taxi cabs, the Empire State Building, Guggenheim Museum, and Statue of Liberty. The wooden pieces are from MUJI's "New York in a Bag" set, which is something I love giving friends. But it's never occurred to me that the pieces would make a wonderfully NYC-centric cake topper—trust the genius Gail Watson to come up with such a clever topper idea. The "New York City in a Bag" set is $14 and is also available in Paris and Tokyo versions. —Heather Lee
