Basketball-star fiancè? Check. Two-million-dollar ring by a jeweler to the stars? Check. A registry that totals more than the price of a house (albeit a modest one)? Check.
Last Monday, Kim Kardashian and hubby-to-be Kris Humphries were seen scouring the shelves of Beverly Hills luxury shop Geary's. Like traditional couples, the duo picked out flatware, dinnerware, glassware, and other home goods in anticipation of newlywed life. Unlike most traditional couples, these two have A-list friends who can afford crazy expensive mustard jars ($175 each) and ice tongs ($195 each). Kim and Kris also have their eyes on other luxury goods, like Hermès cereal bowls ($155 each), Buccellati silverware ($1,600 for one five-piece place setting), Lalique ashtrays ($790 each)—though neither smokes—and a crystal Baccarat vase ($7,859), the most expensive item on the registry. For the not so fancy-schmancy guests, there's always the $12 napkin.
The couple plan to create another registry at Williams-Sonoma. But don't be fooled by the idea of cute kitchen stuff—there is a stove imported from France that could set someone back $8,600.
