I'm a big champion of the slightly messy updo. Not only is it easier to maintain over the course of an entire day, it also gives off a soft, romantic effect—the wedding hairstyle paradigm. So I think the bedhead-y updo Uma Thurman wore at amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala would be perfect for a summer bride throwing a laid-back backyard or beach wedding. It looks like she's twisted dozens of tiny little braids and pinned them at the crown of her head for a sexy-but-sweet style. I'm also digging her makeup—using a slightly sparkly gunmetal gray shadow is the perfect way to create a wedding-appropriate smoky eye, and it looks especially smashing with rosy pink blush and lipstick.
