This week's cake comes to us from Swiss bakery blog Call Me Cupcake and was adapted from a recipe by Sweetapolita. The five-layer vanilla cake uses food coloring for the gradient of pink tones, although you can also achieve the colors naturally using pureed berries or juice from beetroot. The layers are married with raspberry jam and frosted with sweet Swiss meringue. The result is simple white cake with an adorable, tasty surprise inside. —Phillip B. Crook
