When asked how late designer Alexander McQueen would have felt about being honored at this year's Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, famed milliner Philip Treacy told Women's Wear Daily, "He wouldn't have come." But, in a way, he was everywhere last night. Inside the gala, his fantastical creations lined the walls in an exhibit called "Savage Beauty," but out on the red carpet, his designs walked the museum's steps on live beauties—savage or otherwise.

Naturally, our eyes gravitated toward those looks that evoked bridal appeal, like the glittering, long-sleeved Stella McCartney gown on Gwyneth Paltrow flush with modern glamour. Also delivering the glitz-and-glam vibe were Ashely Greene, in a blush tulle Donna Karan dress, and Fergie, wearing a Marchesa mermaid gown that gave us dèjá vu of Halle Berry's Oscars gown. Two ladies in red also caught our eye for wearing wedding-worthy looks: Gisele Bundchen in archive McQueen and Lea Michele in custom Escada. Make the dresses stark white, pop fascinators on their heads, and, bam, you've got a bride. Just ask Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton, she knows all about it. —Phillip B. Crook
