Buy a suit online? I cringed at the very thought. But Toby Bateman, the buying director for Mr. Porter, would suggest my cringiness (I know that's not a word) is unfounded. If you're looking for a suit to wear to your rehearsal dinner or on a fancy honeymoon, Bateman provides four straight-forward tips on custom ordering a suit from home:
Tip 1: Measure Up—"Know your chest size, waist size, and the correlation between the two."
Tip 2: Choose Your Style—"I find that a one-button can look and feel dressier."
Tip 3: The Fabric—"A silk or cashmere blend is best kept for special occasions or less frequent wear."
Tip 4: Alterations—"Most suits will arrive with unfinished trouser hems and a few may require additional tweaks on areas such as sleeves or shoulders."
