Spring and summer weddings are on the horizon, and if you've been looking for a way to rebound from winter fitness hibernation, take note: Equinox Fitness Clubs are adding two fun new classes to their spring fitness lineup.
TORCH classes offer a killer full-body cardio and movement routine, designed by Harlem natives and YouTube superstars The BarTendaz. More than just a way to lose weight, TORCH also has a feel-good aspect: The team regularly promotes community cohesion by taking their unique style of "street exercise" to schools and community centers to promote cardiovascular health. Not surprisingly, the high-energy classes are also a ton of fun (think high-intensity hip-hop music mixed with martial arts and music video worthy dance moves).
Thread, Equinox's lower intensity option, utilizes advanced yoga science to properly align muscles, increase flexibility and enhance mind-body awareness. The 75-minute class features stretching, core-work, and yoga poses--an excellent follow-up to TORCH or any cardiovascular workout (it's also invigorating on its own, too, though).
For even extra motivation, check out Equinox's new line of workout apparel by I Am Athletics. Each piece, featuring phrases like "I Am Powerful" and "I Will Persist Until I Succeed," is printed in reverse (so when you look in the mirror while exercising, it speaks directly to you).
The TORCH and Thread classes are available nationally, check out Equinox's website for locations near you.—Leigh Bond
