This week's wedding cake comes to us from Cape Town, South Africa, and features my current favorite color scheme: pale aqua paired with deep burgundy. "This cake was inspired by my love of birds," says Roxanne Floquet, owner and creative director of Roxanne Floquet Cake Design
. To create the edible birds, Roxanne traced and filled the bird shape on cellophane using royal icing. Once dry, the birds were affixed to the tiers with additional icing. The finishing touch: an oversize silk peony in rich burgundy, which adds a touch of elegance to complement the whimsical birds. —Heather Lee
