Call it a self-drawn wedding portrait, if you will. Adrian Tomine, the artist known for his cover illustrations for The New Yorker and for the graphic novel Shortcomings, turned his talent on his own wedding, chronicling his and fiancee Sarah's less-than-perfect journey to the altar in Scenes From An Impending Marriage. Planning a wedding can be stressful—believe us, we know—so Tomine's comedy, mingled with pointed observations and tender moments, makes for a welcome, empathizing relief from wedding planning madness. —Phillip B.
