Every year, a single event brings thousands of brides together—the Filene's Basement "Running of the Brides" sale. These intrepid brides-to-be gather supportive family and friends, create team names and t-shirts, and wait in line for hours to be part of this experience, all in the name of purchasing their ultimate wedding dress at a fraction of the cost. For many years, associate fashion editor Kim Forrest has watched news coverage of the New York sale, but this time, she decided to make the journey to Filene's Basement (okay, the store is literally across the street from her apartment) and see for herself. Armed only with her iPhone, sharp elbows, and a dream, our reporter ventured into the line of fire to watch the story unfold.
