It was refreshing when a copy of 52 Things Brides on a Budget Should Know showed up on my desk. Author Aimee Manis' direct, no frills approach to planning a realistic yet budget-friendly wedding is spot on. Some of her "things" are a little obvious, but she does point out that a lot of budgeting is just common sense. Two of my favorite pieces of advice from the book are: the most economical wedding venue is a multipurpose one, and that no matter how tight your budget is, hiring the best photographer you can afford is always money well spent. Buy the book (a bargain itself at $10) to find out about the other 50 "things." —Cari Wolfert
