My current obsession: Ready Set Blow

Hair & Beauty, NY, NJ and CT

Last week, I was invited to Blow's sleek uptown blow dry bar to test drive Ready Set Blow, the company's new express blow dry lotion. After a glass of pink Champagne was placed in my hand, I listened as co-owner Stuart Sklar as he explained how the product worked—unlike most "quick-dry" products which contain alcohol to makes hair dry out faster, the Ready Set Blow formula has heat-conducting polymers, which are activated by the heat of your blow dryer (which essentially means less damage for your hair). It also contains a strengthening protein blend and is free of sulfates, parabens, detergents, and other damaging agents, so it's safe to use on keratin treated or colored hair. After the spiel, I got to sit down and have a pro blow out my hair—which took only about 15 minutes (usually it takes me about 30 minutes to dry my own hair) and looked amazing, but I was remaining skeptical until I got to try out Ready Set Blow at home, with my own less-than-professional blow drying skills. Well, Ready Set Blow passed the home test with flying colors—I've been using it practically every day. Not only does it cut drying time, but it sets my hair so that it remains frizz-free all day (even if it rains).

Oh, and while I was at the salon, I also discovered that Blow's uptown and downtown locations offer private parties, where $60 a person (for groups of four or more) includes signature blowouts and unlimited prosecco—a great idea for pre-bachelorette party primping. They can also customize wedding day getting-ready packages for you and your bridesmaids, that include hairstyling, makeup and nail services.
