For the past four runways seasons we have been sharing exclusive, sneak peek sketches of just-about-to-debut dresses from some of the industry's top bridal designers with our readers. This time around the designers are also giving us a look behind the design process by sharing their inspiration points and giving us a general sense of what to expect with the collection.
We're starting this season off with a sketch by Jenny Packham who made waves at bridal market last year when she showed the Miley dress, a gold, corseted number that Miley Cyrus wore to the 2010 Academy Awards. This season expect to see luxurious Parisian silks, diaphanous tulles, voluminous silhouettes and transparent gleaming crystals in her collection that Ms. Packham describes as "Balletic, romantic, decadent."
Inspired by "magical moonlit parties in 1930s Paris and the fluid movement and sculptured femininity of Ballet Russes," this dress features French silk tulle layers for a luxurious and dramatic look. "This dress particularly represents the balletic inspiration for this collection," says the designer. "Whilst it still has my contemporary and glamorous signature, the voluminous silhouette shows an exciting new direction this season." —Cari Wolfert
