It happens every week. I'll be sitting in my bedroom, putting my makeup on for work when the new StoryCorps conversation plays on NPR's Morning Edition. You fellow listeners out there know how incredibly touching the interviews are, and I usually find that at the end of them I've either laughed or cried enough to run my freshly applied mascara.

StoryCorps has just released a new book called Mom, a collection of selected interviews about American motherhood edited by the project's founder, Dave Isay. It's a fitting Mother's Day gift, and I think also a great "thank you" for any woman who loves a good story. Just be sure to mention that they might want to read it mascara-free.—Leigh Crandall
