Would you have a Wild West-inspired wedding?

While recently watching the movie Tombstone* I couldn't stop thinking about what great inspiration the sets and costume design would make for a rustic-yet-luxe mountain wedding. And the perfect venue for a Tombstone-inspired wedding? Definitely the Hotel Jerome in Aspen.

The grand hotel was built in 1889 during the height of Colorado's silver boom to serve as an oasis of cosmopolitan civility in the rough and tumble mining town (it was one of the first buildings west of the Mississippi River to be fully lit by electricity!). The hotel has obviously gone through extensive renovations since then (the last in 2002), but it still retains its historic charm with antique brass lamps, antler-adorned decor, and an eclectic mix of patterned carpets and wallpaper. The hotel's elegant Grand Ballroom is also the only above-ground ballroom in Aspen, with amazing views of the Elk Mountain Range. The cozy library is also an excellent spot for a welcome reception or bridal shower. For more information about booking an event at Hotel Jerome, call Kevin Siegrist, Senior Grand Events Manager, at 970-429-7641. —Lauren Matthews, editor, Brides Colorado
