New ways to wear color

Wedding Dresses, Wedding Dresses

It's been 10 years since colored sashes first became a mainstream accessory for wedding gowns. Gladly, this season designers found new and creative ways to incorporate shades of color into their designs.

The color of the day yesterday had to be ice blue. Yes, the "ice" is necessary because three designers described the shade of blue that they used exactly that way

Douglas Hannant had several blue-hued gowns, but this organza gown with a printed, metallic, ice blue design (above, left) was by far my favorite. I could never pick a favorite from Angel Sanchez's collection (they were all so amazing), but the way he incorporated a subtle hint of blue draping into this silk Mikado trumpet gown (above, middle) was pure perfection. And though it looks grayish, this silk Chantilly lace dress by Jenny Lee (above, right) was actually an all-over color of muddied blue. —Cari Wolfert
