Courtney and Todd in Washington, DC

MD, DC and VA, Real Weddings

Rodney Bailey

Courtney and Todd, two D.C. natives hosted a classic affair, first marrying in a historic church and then dancing the night away at one of the city's oldest museums, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, surrounded by magnificent artwork. Courtney bought her rice taffeta Carolina Herrera gown in New York City. "I'm not that girly," says Courtney. "So I loved that my dress looked more couture than bridal—but that it was still feminine enough to please my mother." The ceremony site of St. John's Georgetown Episcopal Church was chosen because of its beauty and its proximity to the reception site. The reception was held in the Atrium of the Corcoran Gallery of Art. "We loved the architecture and open space," Courtney says. Florist Michael Lanni, of Volanni, created tall and short centerpieces of calla lilies, ti leaves, hydrangeas, anemones, and bear grass.
