Piccione and Alfred Angelo designer Michael Shettel tells us that sculpted shapes and glamorous silhouettes define his latest collection that will debuting on the runway next week. "Using the film Jazz On A Summer's Day, a documentary of the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, as inspiration, the collection reflects styles that juxtaposed each other that weekend—jazz and the America's Cup yacht races," says Shettel. "Cool jazz riffs mixed that weekend with salty air and canvas sails. Beatniks sat side by side with aristocratic mainlanders."

Twitter Terms (we asked each designer to describe their collection in 140 words or less): @AlfredAngelo SS10 reflects Choice & Contradiction! Looks-boldly understated. High drama dsgns w/ lttl embshmnt. Fabrics-airy but w/volume.

The folks over at Alfred Angelo also gave us a bonus sketch of two dresses from new their eco-friendly bridesmaid collection called Purely Alfred Angelo. "With details like delicate shirring and origami ruffles or box pleats and side pockets, the collection can be worn dressed up or casual," says Shettel.
