Wedding Dresses

It's always fun to spend time at The Plaza. For Douglas Hannant, we were tucked in from the outside drizzle just beyond the Palm Court, where he showed a collection of 12 dresses that he titled: "Nuances." And some gowns were quite nuanced such as this lovely tiered, layered, strapless dress in ivory for a bride who likes a subtle and airy flow. I would call some of the later looks "exaggerated nuance," with big, constructed, oversized skirts embellished with all sorts of adverbs — shredded, fringed and appliqued. —Michelle Preli
