A cake cutting gone wild

Wedding Style & Decor

Even if you're having cupcakes or pie instead of a tiered wedding cake you and your groom will most likely still have a cake cutting moment. It's a very "sweet" moment and a great photo-op, but there's always the hesitation between the bride and groom before they feed each other a piece of cake. And in those few seconds they are each thinking: Is he/she going to smash the cake in my face? Should I smash the cake in his/her face?

While it can be funny, it can also be messy. You know your new spouse best and can probably assume what would happen if you were the one doing the smashing. Would he smash the cake back in your face or would he get really into it and try to start a cake fight? Or would you, as the bride, get very upset if your hair, makeup and wedding dress were ruined because things got out of hand. You may want to have a real talk about the cake cutting before the wedding day if you're not sure what may happen. Here's a video of a bride and groom who got so into their cake "fight" that her dress strap broke and she almost flashed all of her guests. —Anne Chertoff
