Now that things have settled and I seem to be back to my normal self after a weekend of weddings, I can take a minute to reflect on some of my favorite moments. At the wedding on Friday night in Ipswich, MA, the bride wore a white feather in her hair instead of a veil. To complement her feather and the navy bridesmaids dresses, her wedding party wore peacock feathers in their hair. To top it all off, the flower girl dropped identical peacock feathers down the isle instead of flower petals. Despite the rumored bad luck of peacock feathers, I think this was a beautiful touch to the ceremony.
At the Saturday night wedding in Waterford, CT, the bride and groom kept it casual with a ceremony outside among friends and other loved ones. There were white chairs for family and close friends, and other guests stood around the couple. Not only did everyone have a great view, but it reminded me of the celebratory vibe of a standing ovation—how appropriate for a wedding! The bride and groom have known each other since college and have lived together since I met the bride five years ago. Their tastes as a couple were in every detail of the wedding, from the light tan groomsmen's suits to the lemonade jugs at the bar and crab cakes during the cocktail hour. But the sweetest moment of all was during their vows when the bride kept asking the officiant to repeat them to her. As they giggled through their mistakes, it was obvious that this couple will continue to laugh together for years to come.
I will attend my last wedding of the season in a few weeks, so check back soon for more memorable moments. —Alycia Grace Mason, associate fashion editor, Elegant Bride
