Pet project

Mr T. and Sophie

As the production manager of Elegant Bride, part of my job is to make sure the images we print in the magazine look as good as they can. That includes removing "blemishes," a stray hair in someone's face or even making the sky more blue on a cloudy day. Recently, when working on an image of a couple's Golden Retriever, I enjoyed making her even more beautiful (we went in and whitened her teeth a bit!).

I love my dogs. I've been married for 6 years, but if I was planning my wedding now, I would absolutely have to include them. I've heard of couples' pets walking with the grandparents down the aisle or carrying the rings to the altar. I've even seen images of brides and grooms sharing the cake-cutting spotlight with Spot!

I'm pretty sure my pups wouldn't let me dress them, and I know they don't follow instructions well enough to walk down the aisle (I have Frenchies and they are best at sitting and watching—from the front row, of course). Are you including your pet in your wedding-day activities—if so, how? —Jennifer Peterson, production manager, Elegant Bride
