A profile in the October issue of Vogue on top interior designer Kelly Wearstler reminded me of another designing woman: the legendary Dorothy Draper, who inspired the reception story in EB's fall issue (our contributing lifestyle and reception editor Erin, who produced the shoot, is a fellow Draper fan). Much like Wearstler now champions color, pattern and texture with her signature Los Angeles flair, Draper boldly embraced florals and stripes during her heyday in the 1940s. It's the perfect approach for a wedding reception—vivid pops of your favorite hue or design can make a space uniquely sophisticated and stylish. Check out the "Draperized" pages of EB—if you're like me, you'll be ready to paint your bedroom walls hot pink. —Brooke Showell, senior associate features editor, Elegant Bride
