Sew important

Since you don't know what may happen as you get ready the morning of your wedding it's important to have a wedding day emergency kit on hand. Your emergency kit should be complete with extra hose, Tylenol, a bottle of water and straws, clear nail polish, hairspray, antacids, band-aids and of course a sewing kit. (This is an abbreviated list.)

A sewing kit is extremely important in case a button on your dress pops off, you drop your hem or your spaghetti strap tears away from the bodice. I've seen this last one happen. The kit should have thread to match the color of your dress -- white or ivory -- as well as thread to match your bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride and groom/groomsmen attire. A button could come off their tuxedo/suit jacket as easily as it could come off the back of your dress.

The "Sew Chic" Emergency Sewing Kit will easily fit in your getting-ready bag the day of your wedding and comes with everything you need including a rainbow of threads. Make sure you pick up a matching thread if your colors aren't included. At $9.99 it's at an affordable price and definitely one of the few wedding-related purchases you'll be able to use again and again. Available at —Anne Chertoff
