I absolutely love the wedding dress that Rachel McAdams wears in the new movie The Time Traveler's Wife, so I was excited when I got a chance last week to talk with costume designer Julie Weiss, who created the movie's enchantingly romantic style. She told me all about putting together the looks for the beautiful wedding of time traveler Henry (Eric Bana) and his artist bride Clare (Rachel McAdams).
To find the perfect wedding dress for Rachel McAdams's character, Weiss visited the boutique of Lea-Ann Belter Bridal in Toronto where the movie was filmed and selected this "Cecilia" style from the designer's 2008 collection. And much like a real bride would, Weiss customized the dress with special details (adding a pale sash and a long veil) to make it the character's own. In fact, Rachel McAdams even visited the shop for a fitting. "She loved the dress," designer Lea-Ann Belter told me. "She was prancing around the shop in it."
