Picking flowers (literally)

A graphic designer friend of mine (check out her invitations) recently went home to Providence, RI, for the weekend to accompany her engaged friend on a search for the perfect flowers. My friend expected the usual trip to the local wedding florist, but the bride had something more special in mind: They visited a local farm and chose flowers that the owner will grow over the next year and cut fresh for the wedding day. Maybe I'm excited about this idea because it seems so unique and fresh (excuse the pun). I also love that you can add such a personal touch to every detail, down to your flowers. I think this bride is really on to something. Can't you just imagine how fragrant your bouquet would be as you walked down the aisle if the flowers had just been cut that morning? Just the thought of it makes me smile. —Alycia Grace Mason, associate fashion editor, Elegant Bride
