Great expectations

Last week I was on vacation in Cape May, NJ, a beautiful shore town filled with Victorian homes and beachfront mansions. On Thursday night we walked the grounds of the town's crown jewel, Congress Hall Hotel. As there have been most weekends this summer, preparations were underway for a wedding the next day. I watched as a big group of friends sat in a circle of oversized rockers, drinks in hands, laughing and talking over one another. From the snippets I overheard, I could tell the gang hadn't been together in some time, and they were very happy to be in each other's company again. I recognized the feeling they exuded: giddy anticipation of the events to come. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Sometimes my favorite part of a wedding—especially a destination wedding—is the time leading up to the main event.
