Creative camera work

Even in my spare time I can't help but check out new and unusual ideas for wedding photography. Here are two links I enjoyed very much: The first is a story about a trend in China and Japan. The latest fashion craze in wedding photography is about shooting the bride and groom in unusual, surreal situations: the bride becomes the groom's miniature doll and is placed, via Photoshop, in the palm of his hand; or she becomes the tiny gift in a favor box, or she dances like the tiny ballerina in a jewelry box. It's certainly not for everyone, but interesting to see.

The next is a wedding I stumbled upon that was inspired by the popular video game Katamari Damancy. This game involves a prince who is charged with rolling a sticky ball around his world to rebuild the stars that have fallen from the sky. In the case of this wedding, the bride and groom are dressed as the prince and his princess and the wedding party as their subjects. You can also see the detail on the cake that represents the Katamari ball. The couple have become attached to it much like in the game. I think it's an amazing way to work your hobby into your day that actually looks rather sweet.—Claudia Grimaldi, photo editor, Elegant Bride
