Real Wedding: Tyler and Jessica

I recently had the pleasure of attending my cousin Tyler's wedding to the beautiful Jessica Diaz in San Francisco. Tyler and Jessica are two of the kindest, most giving people I've ever met, and it was clear that the rest of their 150 or so wedding guests felt the same way about them. From the delicious reception luncheon their friends cooked and served themselves to the charming floral arrangements fashioned by talented family members, everyone was so excited to lend their skills and time to help make Tyler and Jessica's day special. And it really was. As Tyler said when he and Jessica thanked everyone, "This wedding is a great example of community, and what a community can do together." His statement reminded me that ultimately it is our communities—friends and family both near and far—that make a wedding possible, not just in creating details like flowers or food for the party, but also supporting a couple as they move forward together. Reflecting on Tyler and Jessica's day, I certainly could have written about the gorgeous view of the city from their venue or the fantastic music that kept everyone on the dance floor. But really, it was Tyler and Jessica's amazing community and its celebration of two people starting a life together that I'll remember most. —Leigh Crandall, managing editor, Brides Northern California
