Think you're seeing double? Desperate Housewives stars Teri Hatcher and Dana Delany were seen yesterday decked out in bridal gear on the set of ABC's hit drama. Last season concluded with Mike marrying, but we don't know to whom, and unfortunately this shot doesn't help us figure it out!
The show's costume designer Cate Adair threw these dresses together in less than 2 days using inspiration from the two characters, Susan Mayer and Katherine Mayfair. Due to the storyline, Adair had to make sure that the backs of both dresses were the same, but she still wanted to channel their two different style personalities into each dress.
"Susan is an artist, but she doesn't dress to shock people," said Adair, "She has a distinctive style and it's not at all unusual for her character...
"Katherine is traditional and we have always used inspiration from historical references to dress her," says Adair. The Empire waist of her dress gave it an old-world feel that was specifically inspired by Napoleon's Josephine. Tiny sleeves finished off the dress to give it a feminine touch.
"The glorious thing about being the designer on this show is that as we move to season 6 I am blessed with beautifully drawn characters because of the writers and actresses who bring them to life," says Adair. —Cari Wolfert
