If you're looking for ideas on how to throw a fabulous wedding with limited financial resources (and who isn't these days?), there's two upcoming events in New York City you'll want to attend:
On June 13 and 14 from 10 am to 1 pm, Sweet Revenge—a cupcake and wine bar at 62 Carmine Street in the West Village—will be hosting a recession-friendly wedding planning event. The one-stop shop will give you access to experts in invitations, jewelry, photography, floral design, wedding planning, and bridal couture providing tips on how to operate on a budget. One lucky bride-to-be in attendance will win a grand prize package of fabulous wedding merchandise and services.
On June 20, from 7 to 10 pm, The Boutique Group—a new event design firm specializing in coordinating events for clients with limited budgets—will be hosting a "Recession Chic" event at the New Art Center Gallery, 580 8th Avenue, 5th floor. The evening will showcase several event professionals in catering, floral design, invitations and photography. You'll also get to enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a live jazz performance by The Fred Hunter Trio. Call 646-537-1717 to RSVP. —Lauren Matthews, editor, Brides New York
