One of our favorite New York bakers, who has made beautiful wedding cakes for some of our feature stories, has just released a new book.
Brooklyn-based Sarah Magid's new cookbook, Organic and Chic contains over 55 easy-to-follow recipes for an incredible array of desserts—from cookies, cakes, pies and cupcakes to "reformed junk food," i.e. Twinkies, made with fresh, organic ingredients. For those who are ambitious enough to attempt their own wedding cake, the book details cake decorating instructions, ingredient suggestions, and recommended tools to help you create a wedding cake that actually looks edible. But for those of us not willing to channel Julia Child, the book is still worth picking up for the fantastic and inspiring photos alone, not to mention specific and useful tips for making a big impact with less effort (read: less money).
