Happy Feet

Like most brides, I shopped for my wedding shoes with comfort in mind. But no matter how great a pair feels for five minutes in the store, standing in them for six hours is another story. It was about halfway through our outdoor reception when I snuck off to slip on my Rainbow flip-flops (and my poor gown, perfectly hemmed to the height of my heels, subsequently suffered from being dragged all over the ground). In retrospect, I wish I'd opted for a little extra shoe support so I would have lasted longer.

Being a former ballet dancer, I can attest to the genius of Profoot's new Pump Pouches—I used to stuff a similar product into my pointe shoes! The wraparound cushions are perfect for blister-proofing pointy-toed heels. The company also offers nifty Heel Shields that provide just enough padding to take the strain off soaring stilettos. And the Toe Beds, gel inserts that mold to the ball of your foot, will reduce the impact of all-night dancing. All three products cost less then $10 and are sold at drugstores nationwide. —Elaine Stuart, senior associate features/travel editor, Modern Bride
